Water and utilities
Wet utilities
Water distribution, wastewater collection, lift stations and drainage. The part of the project that is invisible the day it is finished and decides everything for the thirty years after.

- A developer who needs a cost per lot they can underwrite.
- When it is useful
- As soon as the service path is known and before phasing is fixed.
Water processing and reclamation
Treatment, reuse under TCEQ Chapter 210, and alternative supply where groundwater is capped. When the aquifer stops being an answer, this is the next one.

- A project where groundwater is capped or converting, or where amenity demand can absorb reuse.
- When it is useful
- When plant capacity and supply alternatives are being sized.
Desalination
Inland desalination is rarely limited by membranes. It is limited by what you do with the brine, and that is a land, permitting and disposal problem, not a treatment problem.
- Who this helps
- A project where the supply is brackish and the concentrate has nowhere obvious to go.
- When it is useful
- At source characterisation, because recovery cannot be set until disposal is.
Residuals and disposal
Waste recovery
Everything a treatment system removes from water has to go somewhere. Some of it is worth money. Most of the cost is in deciding which is which, early.
- Who this helps
- An operator deciding what to do with what the plant removes.
- When it is useful
- Before the recovery scheme is committed, while the disposal baseline can still be contracted.
Waste pumping
Hauling, receiving stations, lift station service, transporter registration and manifesting. The unglamorous link that quietly decides whether the rest of the chain runs.
- Who this helps
- A system that depends on hauled volume reaching a receiving point.
- When it is useful
- Before the receiving end becomes a constraint rather than a line item.
Re-injection wells
Class I, II and V UIC disposal, including desalination concentrate. The end of the chain, and the input that should have been decided first.

- A project generating concentrate or residuals that need a permanent route.
- When it is useful
- First. Where the residuals go sets everything upstream of it.
