It started at fourteen, in an engineering department.
His technical foundation began at approximately age 14 in the engineering department of the family firm, Kahlenberg Brothers Co., a long-established manufacturer of heavy marine and naval equipment. That early exposure to machinery, engineering, fabrication and practical problem solving shaped the hands-on management style he still applies.
After completing a degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin in 1986, he entered the apparel industry and later moved to Mexico, where he built an industrial garment manufacturing and fashion-finishing operation from the ground up.
